ARK Invest is betting big on private tech companies. "It's an amazing time to invest in innovation," the firm's chief futurist, Brett Winton, told CNBC's "ETF Edge" this week. Winton worked with the ARK Invest team to create the ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX), a closed end interval fund, in September 2022. Closed-end interval funds allow investors to invest in private companies at their net asset value at any time, regardless of market volatility. A new ETF is trying to capture profits in the municipal funds space. BondBloxx's Joanna Gallegos is behind the IR+M Tax-Aware Short Duration ETF (TAXX) — which launched less than a month ago. "When you think about municipal bond portfolios, you really want people to think beyond them and look for the relative value of after-tax income," the firm's co-founder and COO told CNBC's "ETF Edge" on Monday. Gallegos sees actively managed municipal bond exchange-traded funds as an income-generating opportunity in a high rate environment. FactSet describes the fund as "tax efficient" — balancing strong after-tax income opportunities with capital preserved through both municipal and taxable short-duration fixed income securities.

BNY Mellon's global head of ETFs suggests exchange-traded funds using options overlays could become next year's hot product. "We are absolutely going to see more of these options-based products come to market," Ben Slavin told CNBC's "ETF Edge" on Monday. "We see it in our own book." Options overlays are a way for investors to hedge against downside. "Ultimately, there's going to be more issuers that are continuing to chase this trend that we're seeing," Slavin said.

The author behind the best-selling book "The Psychology of Money" is trying to relieve investor anxiety over market downturns. "Realizing how inevitable it is makes it more palatable to deal with when you go through it," author and behavioral finance expert Morgan Housel told CNBC's "ETF Edge" recently. He also advises investors to always have a plan for surprise events because they can catch the market off guard. Housel added these surprise events, such as natural disasters and pandemics, tend to be all that matter in market shakeups. But just as the market eventually stabilizes, even times of calm can also "plant the seeds for crazy."
